Our big tent

As a kid, I was fascinated by big tents, whether at a circus, an outdoor event, or a group camping site. I like tents. They provide shelter and bring people together. 

The CMA is the big tent of the marketing profession in Canada. We represent all areas of marketing, with members across all sectors, ranging from big brands to start-ups. Our membership spans creative and media agencies, research firms, technology companies, management consultants, not-for-profits, government bodies, post-secondary institutions and more. 

Our membership community even includes other associations – many that you might expect, like thinktv, Radio Connects, and Actra Fraternal Benefits Society, and some that might not seem obvious at first, like CPA Canada or the Electronic Products Recycling Association.

We have many strategic partnerships as well. One of our newest is AMA Toronto. We are cross-promoting each other’s programs aimed at professional development and career growth (the CMA’s Chartered Marketer (CM) program, CMA NXT and AMA Toronto’s Career Accelerator mentoring program). And I was delighted to be a judge for AMA’s spectacular Marketing Hall of Legends awards.  

Other strategic partners include SMCC, Canadian Out of Home Marketing & Measurement Bureau, and the Canadian Professional Sales Association.

All of this is for the betterment of Canadian marketing and Canadian marketers. We are grounded in our belief that hosting a big tent brings a responsibility to welcome others with open arms
