Alessandra Bresani currently serves as the Chief Privacy Officer for Loblaw Companies Ltd. Alessandra joined Loblaw with a mandate of building a leading-edge enterprise privacy program. During her tenure, Alessandra has led the establishment of a dedicated privacy function, recruited top privacy talent, and overseen the implementation of core components of the privacy program, including, training, advisory and risk management processes. Today, Alessandra is responsible for Loblaw’s privacy vision and strategy, providing advisory to the leadership team on strategic and transformational initiatives, and overseeing privacy operations.

Prior to joining Loblaw, Alessandra spent 8 years within Deloitte's Risk Advisory practice focused on Data Protection and Privacy. At Deloitte, Alessandra served a diverse client base across the public (including both healthcare and government) and private (including retail and financial) sectors and co-developed Deloitte’s privacy control framework in relation to Privacy by Design certification and assessment as part of Ryerson’s Big Data and Privacy Institute’s offering.

Alessandra has deep experience in developing privacy strategies, leading privacy program implementations and providing privacy, data protection and security advisory services. She has conducted dozens of privacy and security related risk assessments, including, privacy impact assessments, developed enterprise-wide privacy policy frameworks and training programs in relation to the management and respectful use of personal information, and is well-versed in federal and provincial Canadian privacy laws, industry standards, and privacy best practices. Alessandra also has experience in advising on as well as implementing privacy and security breach response protocols.

Alessandra is an active member of the Canadian Privacy community and participates in a number of privacy forums and Committees, including, the CMA Privacy & Data Advisory Committee Meeting, and plays an advocacy role for Loblaw with respect to privacy and data reform.
