Sara has sat on several boards, including the National Ballet School and Bridgepoint (formerly Riverdale Hospital). She served on the City of Toronto Committee of Adjustment for 12 years, including three years as Vice-Chair.
Sara holds an MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University and an Honours BA from the University of Toronto.
Philippe Dufresne
Privacy Commissioner of Canada
Philippe Dufresne was appointed Privacy Commissioner of Canada on June 27, 2022. A leading legal expert on human rights, administrative and constitutional law, he previously served as the Law Clerk and Parliamentary Counsel of the House of Commons where he was responsible for the provision of legal and legislative services to the House, its Speaker, Members and committees, the Board of Internal Economy and the House Administration.
Prior to his appointment as Law Clerk of the House in 2015, he was the Canadian Human Rights Commission’s Senior General Counsel, responsible for legal services, litigation, investigations, mediations, employment equity and Access to Information and Privacy. During that time, he successfully appeared as counsel before all levels of Canadian Courts, including the Supreme Court of Canada in a number of key human rights and constitutional cases over the last two decades.
A member of the Bars of Québec, Ontario, and Massachusetts, he has served his profession and community in several different capacities, including as president of the constitutional and human rights law section of the Canadian Bar Association (Québec Branch) and as president of the International Commission of Jurists (Canada).
Commissioner Dufresne holds degrees in common and civil law from McGill University’s Faculty of Law, and has been a part-time professor with the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Common Law and Queen’s University’s Faculty of Law. He regularly speaks on issues of privacy, human rights, administrative, and constitutional law in Canada.
Amanda Maltby

Amanda Maltby is an experienced business leader, executive and Board Director with more than 25 years in senior management roles. She has an extensive background in privacy and data governance, corporate compliance and ethics and public policy issues impacting marketing. Currently she is the General Manager, Corporate Compliance and Regulatory Affairs at Canada Post Corporation. Amanda also acts as the Corporation’s Chief Privacy Officer. Prior to that, she was Senior Vice-President, Public Affairs at Ipsos Reid, a global leader in market research and public affairs strategies where she worked with leading private sector, charitable and not-for-profit organizations. Amanda was previously Senior Vice-President, Public Affairs at the Canadian Marketing Association, where she represented the Association’s interests in national and international forums on issues related to data privacy, security and consumer protection and led the development of leading industry standards on marketing to children and teenagers, deceptive practices in telemarketing and ethical data sharing. She was a member of the federal government Task Force on Spam, Business/Consumer eCommerce Working Committee, and the federal government Working Group that established Canada’s first private sector privacy law, Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Amanda has also held senior roles in the federal government departments of Finance and Global Affairs.
In addition, Amanda has served on the boards of numerous non-for-profit organizations and industry associations in Canada and the US. Amanda is currently a Director of the Canada Marketing Association and serves as the Chair of the Association’s Public Affairs Committee. She is also a founding member of the Data Privacy Board who purpose is connect Canadian and US enterprises to enhance the privacy profession. She is an active volunteer in her community and sits on the Human Resources Committee of the Carleton Golf and Yacht Club.

With over 25 years of experience in airline and loyalty, Gillian currently leads a team of data scientists and BI professionals responsible for driving and delivering on Air Canada’s analytic roadmap in support of Air Canada commercial marketing and all aspects of the Aeroplan business, including member lifecycle management, product development & loyalty marketing. With customer and member data at the heart of everything they do, Gillian and her team foster a data and customer centric culture within the organization while instilling data practices that are respectful of personal privacy and build consumer trust. As Chief Technology Officer, Andrew leads Environics Analytics (EA)’s Software Development and Information Technology teams, including Data Governance, Operations, and Infrastructure. Pamela Snively is the Chief Data & Trust Officer at TELUS. She leads the team responsible for privacy governance and data ethics, along with data management and a number of compliance functions, including the Anti-bribery & Corruption and Competition Law programs. Pam approaches overall data governance through the lens of customer trust, leveraging TELUS’ Customer First principle to drive the organization’s commitment to privacy and data ethics.
Pamela was the recipient of the 2017 Ontario Bar Association’s Karen Spector Memorial Award for Excellence in Privacy Law. She participates in a number of national and international think-tanks and governance bodies related to privacy and data governance, including serving as a Board member for the Information Accountability Foundation and on the Privacy and Data Advisory Committee for the Canadian Marketing Association. Mavis is currently Senior Director, Data and Privacy and is responsible for overseeing the data and privacy advisory team for all Loblaw lines of businesses.
