A new season
Spring is one of my favourite times of year. It brings a sense of hope and renewal that can be seen in budding trees and flowers, and the warmth of the sun. And for a little while, until reality sets in, I can pretend that I am a good golfer.
This is also a time of renewal at the CMA, when we reflect on what we’ve achieved and assess the opportunities that lie ahead. In most years, we onboard one or two Board members. This year, we are welcoming six. I am so very thankful that they are all willing to serve and represent the Canadian marketing community.
Our new directors represent four quintessential Canadian brands: Canadian Tire, Harry Rosen, Loblaw and TD. They are joined by a marketing leader from CISCO, a global technology powerhouse. And we round out the slate with the Canadian CEO of Dentsu, who also happens to be a celebrated Canadian entrepreneur.
Some of our distinguished returning Board members are stepping up as well. Steve Mast (Delvinia) is completing his second term as Board Chair. Kerri Dawson (HSBC) is moving into the roles of Vice-Chair of the Board, and Chair of the Nominating and Governance Committee. Amanda Maltby (Canada Post) continues to serve as Public Affairs Chair. Alan Depencier (RBC) moves to Audit and Finance, and Brent Chaters (Accenture) heads up our Learning Committee. They are joined by one of our new directors, Nicky Mezo (TD), who will lead our Membership Engagement Committee.
Working with such an outstanding, supportive, talented Board, with exceptional Chairs, is inspiring and rejuvenating for me and all CMA staff.
Our purpose is to embolden Canadian marketers to make a powerful impact on business. How can we not feel empowered to achieve this with the support of such an outstanding Board?PS. The CMA is calling for Bill C-11 to be swiftly referred to a parliamentary committee. This week on Twitter please engage and share our posts and tag @FP_Champagne @erinotoole to move the bill forward.
