Seasoned marketers will discuss their marketing careers and their professional journeys. Our speakers represent diverse business sectors from social media platforms, consumer packaged goods, the beauty industry, omnichannel media solutions and Not-For-Profit. This event will provide students and new marketers with insights into the many avenues they can pursue in marketing and the day-to-day of a professional marketer. A Q&A will follow, giving participants a chance to better understand a career in marketing. This event is free and open to all students and new marketers across Canada (non-CMA members are welcome).

Over the past decade I have had the privilege of helping global brands build meaningful connections with consumers in tech , and entertainment. In my current role at TikTok, I manage a team of high performing marketers to build, plan and launch full funnel consumer facing strategies for North America, meaning we move non users from out of app to engaged users. Outside of work, you'll often find me mountain hiking around the world, eating up a storm, or just spending quality time with friends & family
Robin Neufeld, Director of Marketing, Loblaw Media
Robin Neufeld, MBA, CM, is the Director of Marketing at Loblaw Media, the retail media division of Loblaw Companies Limited. Robin brings more than 15 years of experience in media & marketing strategy to Loblaw, from both CPG and publisher marketing divisions. After doing her MBA at the Rotman School of Management, Robin joined the brand teams at General Mills Canada working on familiar brands such as Cheerios and Nature Valley. She moved onto the CBC where she ran the Content Marketing team, overseeing brand partnerships and the launch of several new media businesses, including podcast advertising and branded content.
Robin is now bringing her CPG marketing background together with her media experience into the growing space of retail media. Robin leads both brand & product marketing for Loblaw Media, working closely with digital product teams to bring new media solutions to market, driving better performance from both Loblaw’s own marketing and that of its partners -- many of Canada’s top tier CPG companies.
Jonelle Ricketts, Senior Manager, Marketing Campaigns, Sephora Canada
With nearly 20 years of experience in the world of marketing, Jonelle Ricketts has held a variety of national and global marketing roles at organizations including BlackBerry, IKEA and Sephora. She has led and collaborated on many award-winning campaigns, leading strategic thinking, insights, creative development and media planning and execution. Over the past 4 years, she has been working in the Netherlands in various marketing and communications roles within different areas of the IKEA organization…a lifelong dream to experience career growth in a new culture and learning another language. Since returning to Canada in the summer of 2022, she has joined the Sephora Canada team as Senior Manager, Marketing Campaigns.
Jonelle holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University and is currently completing her Interior Design Certification at the Professional Design Institute. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, biking, interior design, hiking, volunteering in her community and spending time with her family. On weekends, you can also find her learning the latest Tik Tok dances with her kids…inbetween chauffeuring them to their extracurricular activities!
Ariane Friesen, Director Ecommerce Commercial Growth & Strategy, Mondelēz Canada
Ariane’s CPG career has spanned many countries and brands; starting in London, UK with the Reckitt Media/Digital Teams, to Hong Kong working on eCommerce development and digital innovation, and now Toronto where she leads the eCommerce & Media division at the Clorox Company of Canada, engaging consumers with brands such as Brita, Burt’s Bees and Glad.
Her passion lies in the ability to curate brand experiences combining multi-type innovation, technology and consumer trends. She’s an avid supporter of full-funnel marketing, and the required organizational change to engage & deliver on this principle.
She currently sits on the Media Council at the Canadian Marketing Association.
John McAlister, Senior Director, Marketing & Communications, Campfire Circle
John McAlister is the Senior Director of Marketing & Communications for Campfire Circle, a charity that brings healing through happiness to kids and families affected by childhood cancer or serious illness. With over 20 years of marketing, communications and fundraising experience, John is passionate about amplifying the positive impact of charitable, non-profit and public sector organizations. A Chartered Marketer, John has an MA in Interdisciplinary Studies from Royal Roads University, is a longstanding member of the Not-for-Profit Council of the Canadian Marketing Association, and serves on the Board of Directors for Heritage Toronto.
