2022 CMA Award Winners
On Friday, November 18th, 2022 the Canadian marketing community gathered at Toronto's Westin Harbour Castle to celebrate the top marketing campaigns of the year.
Kraft Heinz, in partnership with Rethink, and BBPA, TMU Diversity Institute, Canadian Congress on diversity, and Pride at Work Canada, in partnership with Zulu Alpha Kilo, are among the top winners of the evening.
Throughout the evening, a series of awards were presented across six disciplines: brand building, business impact, customer experience, engagement, innovative media and martech. Within each discipline, entries compete in one of eight categories (automotive, business, consumer products & services, financial, food and beverage, healthcare, retail/consumer businesses, and social causes).

Ryan Reynolds, (born October 23, 1976, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada), Canadian actor known for being charismatic, quirky, and a quick-witted smart aleck.
Maximum Effort, the production and advertising company co-founded by Ryan Reynolds and George Dewey in 2018. Maximum Effort's marketing arm was acquired by advertising software company MNTN in June 2021, with Maximum Effort Marketing keeping its name while operating as an agency within MNTN. Reynolds was named MNTN's chief creative officer, and Dewey MNTN's chief brand officer.
Maximum Effort Marketing has created ads for Reynolds' brands Aviation Gin and Mint Mobile, films such as Deadpool 2 and Free Guy, and for Match.com, R.M. Williams, and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. One of the Aviation Gin spots went viral, as a spoof on a Peloton holiday commercial that had received significant backlash, with both ads starring the same actress, Monica Ruiz. A spot for Mint Mobile featured Rick Moranis, in a rare public appearance for the actor, and an advertising stunt for Aviation Gin and Laughing Man Coffee had a faux Twitter war between Reynolds and Hugh Jackman.
In December 2021, following the release of the Sex and the City revival series And Just Like That..., and the death of Mr. Big on a Peloton bike, shares in Peloton fell. Maximum Effort quickly devised an advertisement for Peloton featuring Chris Noth. Reynolds provided the voiceover promoting the health benefits that cycling can have, and noting that Chris Noth/Mr. Big was still alive.
In June 2022 Ryan Reynolds announced the formation of a new nonprofit, The Creative Ladder, to help make creative careers more accessible to all – especially those from underrepresented communities.
The Creative Ladder, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, will offer a wide array of programs and services for students and rising creative talents to open up career options in marketing, advertising, design, and commercial production. Jan Kestle has been a leader in the marketing information industry for more than forty years. An expert in using statistics and mathematics to help solve business challenges, she directed the initiatives that led to the creation of Environics Analytics’ (EA) PRIZM segmentation system, WealthScapes financial database and ENVISION business intelligence platform, among other data products.
Over the years, she’s helped hundreds of customers—across all industries including finance, retail, and not-for-profit —turn data and analytics into insight, strategy and engagement. Prior to founding EA in 2003, Jan was President of Compusearch and spent nearly two decades at the Ontario Statistical Centre.
Active in the marketing community, she is a member of the Canadian Statistics Advisory Council, is on the Board of Advisors for the Dean of Toronto Metropolitan University, and is also on the Advisory Board to the Morrissette School of Entrepreneurship at her alma mater, Western University. Jan has been an active and integral member of the Canadian Marketing community, serving in numerous leadership and advisory roles to champion thoughtful marketing in Canada, including as a past member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Marketing Association.
