Recognizing creativity

Nov 22, 2021

Well, I hope you didn’t miss the party! Congratulations to all the winners, and a special shout-out to Susan Irving – our 2021 Marketer of the Year, and to Bryan Pearson – this year’s Lifetime Achievement winner. With more than 800 of you watching, we handed out more than 130 trophies at the 2021 Virtual CMA Awards event last week!

Award entries are evaluated on three criteria: strategy, creativity and results. Today, I’d like to focus in on the second one.

Creativity has always been a crucial aspect of marketing, but creativity of thought, delivery, production and more have had even more prominence over the last two years. It’s part of the reason that we launched a Creativity Council in September, made up of 19 marketers from companies like Publicis, TELUS, Wawanesa Insurance, LoyaltyOne, and Corby.

I recently attended one of their meetings and was struck by the energetic discussions that lit up the room. From privacy considerations to technology integration to the role of purpose and authenticity, creativity has a role far beyond the production studio.

Check out the outstanding creativity of our Award winners, and keep an eye out for some great content from the Creativity Council in the months ahead.
